Spring Season Happenings at Hid’n Pines!
We’re all giving the sunshine a warm WELCOME BACK into our lives today here in Old Orchard Beach! We LOVE the spring season at Hid’n Pines, the season where things wake up after a long Maine winter sleep. We recently had seasonal opening weekend on May 6, and on May 13 we opened for nightly camping. Oh what a joy it is to see so many friendly campers return to enjoy the peace, quiet, and low rates (spring rates last through June 30 this year!).
I walked through Hid’n Pines this morning and saw so many lucky families with their motorhomes and campers who have plenty of space all to themselves this early season. We can’t stress enough how WONDERFUL it is in Old Orchard Beach and at the campground this time of year, especially with favorable weather reports on the horizon. Did we mention that this weekend looks like it’s going to be just beautiful?! 60’s and sunshine.
Downtown Old Orchard Beach is starting to wake up as well! All of your favorite spots are likely already open for business for the season! Bill’s Pizza, Lisa’s Pizza, Pier Fries, great spots for lobster rolls, and so much more! The cars on the ferris wheel are up and ready for families to enjoy a beautiful view of Old Orchard Beach. 🙂
Last minute Old Orchard Beach weekend trip ideas for May 20 – 22:
WHERE TO STAY: Hid’n Pines Family Campground, of course! Bring your camper or tent and get ready to Camp Happily! Check out our rates page here.
WHERE TO DINE: We have a couple delicious ideas for you here…
Bayley’s Lobster Pound – Fresh delicious lobster just a few minutes away from Hid’n Pines. They have great outdoor seating too! Check out their Facebook Page for information on what’s happening.
Another local favorite of ours is Beach Lobster & Farmstand. I’ve purchased lobsters (they cook them for free!) there to take home and make lobster rolls from and it was just PERFECT! We’re very lucky to have them within walking distance to Hid’n Pines and downtown Old Orchard Beach. They’re right down the street, 15 minute walk, 35 Saco Ave.
JJ’s Eatery Too – A real “local” feel, friendly customer service, and delicious food! I highly suggest the haddock sandwich OR the haddock tacos (they’re not always on the menu, but if you ask, they’ll make them!), yum! They also have a pretty full schedule of fun live music to enjoy while you dine and relax. Outdoor seating is also available here. Check out their Facebook page for more information.
WHAT TO DO:
The Brunswick – The largest oceanfront patio bar in Old Orchard Beach! LIVE MUSIC galore, this Old Orchard Beach spot is a lot of fun for everyone. Check out their website for an events calendar, there’s some fun stuff on their lineup for this weekend! 🙂
The Old Orchard Beach Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament! Check out their website for more information about signing up for this event.
Palace Playland Arcade – After grabbing dinner at JJ’s, you can spend a couple hours enjoying the arcade right across the street! It really doesn’t matter your age or skill level, it’s impossible NOT to find fun there.
The Old Orchard Beach trolley isn’t running quite yet, BUT, thankfully Hid’n Pines is only a half a mile to downtown Old Orchard Beach!
It’s an easy walk, 8 to 10 minutes or so and you’ll be back at your campsite, enjoying a campfire with family and friends! We hope to see you in Old Orchard Beach this weekend. You’re welcome to call our office to make a reservation, or stop in and pick your favorite site when you arrive.
